for everyone
Category:Music
Genre: Indie Music
Artist:Narda
early this year, kamikazee came out with the song narda. it was the band's homage to angel locsin who played the title character to the tv version of the superhero. it was the song that made kamikazee a household name and had every wannabe band covering it. it also gave light to the existence of an indie band called narda. unknown to most people, the band narda became narda long before the infamous song came out. long before it was even created. they're a pretty known act in underground circuits and has been around for years. they won NU rock awards' In the Raw award in 2003 and became a favorite of critics and afficionados since. i loved the band ever since i heard "swerte." tey used to sound really indie. a little mushy but in a good way. now their sound is shifting a little. their music is somehow reminiscent of 80's techno rock. depeche mode, new order and the cure. those type.
after a long absence of a record, they came up this year with "discotillion." and the whole album has been on continous repeat mode in my player lately. it has the same narda brand of music that somehow leaves you flushed. the happy kind. they have a way of producing songs that gives you good vibes. maybe because of all the synths. and the album couldn't have a better title on it. "discotillion" makes you want to dance all throughout the record. and singing along. with repetitive chorus lines that run around your head even after everything's quiet already. like molotov's "mahal na mahal kita/wala kang mapapala." ever since i heard it midyear on NU, the thing's been on my head like a bug. that was why i truly waited for this album to come out. and none of the songs turned out to disappoint me. my personal favorites though are molotov, ang mitsa, kay lab, alta presyon and kamikazee. yes. they have a song entitiled kamikazee. and no, it's not a homage to any tv star they idolize.
all in all, it's a good record. worthy of the 280Php you're going to spend on it.
